This one pisses me off
Here's another bit of random graffitti-based FYI found on the corner of 26th and Lyndale:
It says, "Hey kids, Lawrence Ferlinghetti is disappointed. Let's cheer him up!"
Why should we care if Lawrence Ferlinghetti is disappointed? Is he disappointed in us?

Surely it's an intertextual reference to the song collaboration between the Goo Goo Dolls and Josh Groban, "Lawrence Ferlinghetti is Reappointed (Or Is He?)"
Posted by: glen at January 15, 2008 11:29 PM"and I am waiting / for the last long careless rapture / and I am perpetually waiting / for the fleeing lovers on the Grecian Urn / to catch each other up at last / and embrace / and I am awaiting / perpetually and forever / a renaissance of wonder"

Posted by: Brian at January 16, 2008 12:57 AMIf one knows who Lawrence Ferlinghetti is how can it piss one off? to me, it's fairly amusing and hopeful. Not enough graffiti references poets, if you ask me.
Posted by: Paul at January 16, 2008 9:13 AMI'll be sure to ask him the next time I'm in North Beach. I'm curious as to what his answer might be.
Posted by: The Angry Young Man at January 16, 2008 11:06 AMFerlinghetti is one of my all time favorite beat poets/writers. i'm sure he's doing just fine.
Posted by: honey bunny at January 16, 2008 8:28 PMWow, City Lights is finally resorting to viral marketing. Their earlier "viral marking" strategy (cold sores for old Beats doddering down Lyndale with walkers) didn't result in sales, I gather.
